Safetysorb™ zeolite has a natural high affinity for cationic heavy metals.  This high cation exchange capacity has made it an ideal material to selectively capture hazardous material, particularly strontium 90 and cesium 137, as well as various other radioactive isotopes.  In cleanup, a permeable barrier is created to capture dissolved chemical migration. As a silicate, Safetysorb™ zeolite reacts rapidly in cement and glass systems, entraining radioactive species in a cementations mixture, which is solidified, and prepared in accordance with government specified guidelines for disposal.

Safetysorb™ Zeolites are not only considerably less expensive than the use of organic ion resins; it is much more resistant to nuclear degradation.
