PROBLEM STATEMENT:

Develop and demonstrate a cost-effective, energy-efficient treatment technology including materials, supplies, operations, maintenance and waste disposition to treat wastewater containing ammonia (0.25 – 1.5%) and hydrogen peroxide (0.25 – 1.25%).

The proposed process must result in treated wastewater with adequate quality in order to reuse in cooling towers (with copper and brass fittings).

Additionally the volume of residual waste for disposal/recycle should be minimized. The discharge level for ammonium in the wastewater must be less than 20 mg/l.
